| The A.M.E. Church (AMEC)Motto: God Our Father, Christ Our Redeemer, Man Our Brother. The African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E. Church) denomination, Methodist in terms of its basic doctrine and order of worship was born through adversity of the Methodist church. The A.M.E. Church does not differ in any major way from what all Methodists believe. The split from the main branch of the Methodist Church was not a result of doctrinal differences but the result of a time period marked by human beings inhumanity towards other human beings, based on skin color. The A.M.E. Church grew out of the Free African Society which Richard Allen, Absalom Jones, and others established in Philadelphia in 1787. The A.M.E. Church is a connectional organization, with each local church a part of the larger connection The mission of the A.M.E. Church is to minister to the spiritual, intellectual, physical, emotional, and environmental needs of all people by spreading Christ's liberating gospel through word and deed, by seeking out and saving the lost, and serving those in need. At every level of the Connection, and in every local church, the A.M.E. Church is engage in carrying out the spirit of the original A.M.E. mission, which is to seek out and save the lost, and serve the needy. The A.M.E. Founded through adversity of the Methodist Church. Established in 1787 in Philadelphia. Does not differ in any major way from what all Methodist believe. All peoples are welcome into membership of the A.M.E. Church. Congregations in more than 30 nations in North and South America, Africa, Bermuda, Bahamas, the Caribbean, and Europe. The chief executive and administrative officers of the African Methodist Episcopal denomination are the Bishops of the denomination. They comprised the leadership of the AMEC denomination. |
